vCenter Appliance 6.0 Deployment
As discussed there are two types of vCenter server installation.
- vCenter Server with windows platform – vCenter Installation
- vCenter Server appliance deployment.
Today we are discussing about how to deploy vCenter server appliance 6.0 to ESXi host..
First we will look in to the pre requests.
- Windows system with client integration plug-in installed on browser (IE or Chrome).
- vCSA- 2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 120 GB HDD (Thik).
- ESXi Host- 2 CPU, 12 GB RAM
- vCSA All 6.0 iso image.
First we will install the client integration plug-in from the vCSA iso image.
Open the iso image VMware VCSA>vcsa> VMware-ClientintegrationPlugin-6.0.0
Double click on VMware-ClientintegrationPlugin-6.0.0
Click “Next” on the Welcome wizard.
Accept and click “Next” on EULA.
Select the destination folder and click “Next”
Now we are ready to install the client integration plug-in
Click “Install” to continue:-
Client integration plug-in installation completed, Click “Finish”
Here my IE is configured with client integration plug-in.
Run the “vcsa-setup” from VMware VCSA>vcsa-setup.
It will redirect to your web browser as shown in the screen shot.
Select “Install”
Accept the EULA and click “Next”
Connect to your target ESXi server for vCSA 6.0 deployment.
Provide FQDN or IP Address, User Name and the Password of your ESXi host.
FQDN: esxi1.vclaass.local
User: root
Password: ***********
Click “Next” to continue,
Click “Yes” on the SSL Certificate warning
Provide the appliance name and root password for the virtual machine settings.
Refer the password requirements in help tab.
I am using “vcsa-app” as my appliance name.
Click “Next” to continue.
Select the deployment type here PSC.
I am selected “Install vCenter Server with an embedded Platform service controller”.
Click “Next” to continue,
Set-up the SSO here,
I am creating new SSO with vsphere.local domain.
Default user name will be “Administrator”
Provide the SSO Password,SSO Domain name and site name.
If you want to change the SSO domain name refer the help tab.
Click “Next” to continue
Select the appliance size and click “Next”
I am selected “Tiny up to 10 hosts, 100 VMs”
Select one data store available in your target host.
I am going with Thin disk mode because I don’t have 120 GB single datastore here.
Click “Next” to continue
Select your database option and click “Next”
I am using embedded database(vPostgres)
Configure vcsa network settings:-
Choose a network, IP address family, network type, network address, FQDN, Subnet, gateway and DNS.
For time sync I am selected sync with ESXi host, If you have any other NTP server provide the details on the NTP field.
Now we are ready to deploy the vCSA 6.0
Review all the settings and click “Finish” to start the deployment.
It will take 30 Min.
Meanwhile I am going to add my “vcsa-app” to my DNS entery.
FQDN: vcsa-app.vclass.local
IP: 172.20.10.150
Check the below screen shot,
vcsa-app VM is successfully deployed to esxi1.vclass.local and it is up and running.
Find the vsphere web client URL from the installation completion page.
Copy and past the URL in to your web browser ( I am using google chrome because adobe plug in enabled on this browser)
Provide the user name, password and click “Login”
User Name: administrator@vsphere.local
Now we are on the vcsa 6.0 web client.
Now we completed our vCenter server appliance 6.0 deployment!!!
